Masters in History


Masters in History Programme develops a deep knowledge of regional history across time and space and fosters a better appreciation of the relationship between regional and national histories; focuses on South Wales but students are encouraged to pursue their own interests in regional history and draw appropriate comparisons with other regions of Britain; they are taught to use a wide range of research methodology and how to read and understand data analysis, read the historical landscape, oral and visual history, working with manuscripts, maps and other rare materials.

Career Options

This degree will provide you with theoretical and practical training in major themes in local and regional history, research methods, project planning and writing a dissertation. It will be valuable if you are, or are planning a career as, a teacher, librarian, museum or heritage professional, or have an interest in the subject and want to develop your historical skills. Careers where history would be useful include journalism, writing, and careers in the civil service or public administration. History can open up options to a wide range of careers.

Admission Requirements
Requirements for Masters in History:
Candidate should have 14 years of education.
Candidates should have graduate degree from recognized college or university.
A background in a social science will be a plus point but not essential feature.
Candidates who are more than 26 years old shall not be entitled for admissions unless relaxation is granted by the Vice Chancellor for special reasons on the recommendations of the Chairman. Foreign students must route their applications through the Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan.
Admission will be made on merit, subject to the regional quota.
